about

This exploratory EP is part of my R&D work for a much larger live project, with Purcell's music forming the basis. I am currently looking for funding opportunities to make this work.

"These reinterpretations explore the pioneering melody and harmony of Purcell (1659-95) with a contemporary palette, primarily using dark strings, harmonium, samples and electronics. The creative approach ranges from slight rearrangement and shifts of focus, to improvised and newly composed material. This work is about adopting a 'folk' ethos in recycling existing musical material, repurposing it, and observing it through a wider aesthetic lens."

Recorded and mixed at Hotel Studios, London, 2015-2016

This work has been aired on BBC Radio 3 Late Junction.
